West Maui

At Honua Kai, location is one of its greatest gifts — a peaceful retreat minutes from the active island community of West Maui.

West Maui is rich in natural beauty, from spectacular beaches, to the awe-inspiring lush West Maui Mountains. Marvel at the thriving coral reef, iridescent fish and sea turtles living in your own backyard. Walk along the beachside boardwalk and explore the Whaler’s Village shops and restaurants. Discover Maui’s up-and-coming talents at numerous art galleries on Front Street in Lahaina. Or satisfy your longing for adventure with nearby zip lines, volcano bike tours, catamaran cruises and more.

Those who have been here know it’s more than just natural beauty that makes West Maui special. The west side of Maui is well known for it’s casual laid back style. It’s a place where people can feel at home with an abundance of luxurious activities and attractions without a bit of pretension.

Some of our favorite West Maui highlights:

Once the royal capital of the Hawaiian kingdom, this historic whaling village is the base camp for most water activities like whale watching, ferries to the island of Lanai’I, and fishing expeditions. For the land lover, stroll along historic front street, a modern-day hot spot for local artists, boutique shops, and authentic Maui restaurants.

Kaanapali Beach

Considered to be the signature beach of West Maui and home to Honua Kai. Some of the island’s best snorkeling on Maui can be had right out front of the resort.

Whalers Village

Located just 1.5 miles from Honua Kai, Whalers Village is an outdoor shopping center featuring luxury shopping at stores like Louis Vuitton and Tommy Bahama, along with vibrant beachfront restaurants.

West Maui is home to some of the most picturesque golf courses in the state. Challenge yourself at the famous Plantation course at Kapalua Resort, or play one of two resort style courses at Kaanapali Beach Resort to the south, either choice, just 5 minutes from Honua Kai.

Loosely translated to “arms embracing the sea,” Kapalua Resort is located on the northern most point of West Maui and is home to world-class golf courses, iconic walking trails, and great restaurants.

Napili Bay

A favorite family beach. Known for great snorkeling
(especially among sea turtles) and light body boarding.

Honolua Bay
